Students - Vacation Work?
Perhaps you are looking to gain some practical work experience during your vacations to enhance your CV and your employment prospects post graduation, especially in today's highly competitive market. Perhaps you are also looking to earn some money to pay off the student loans, cover your course fees or to save up so that you can go travelling abroad for an extended period before kicking off your career in earnest. Whatever your reasons, if you’re looking for some seasonal temporary work – how can we help?..
The Registration / What do I need to do?
This really couldn't be easier, simply e-mail your CV and a cover note to our Student Co-ordinator at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Please make sure your cover note includes exact dates of your availability and appropriate contact numbers. Once we receive your CV our student co-ordinator will call you, conduct a brief initial interview and register your details. If necessary, you will then be sent an on-line test to evaluate your speed and accuracy on the PC. If you do not have access to a PC and printer, we can make alternative arrangements for you.
Of course, there are other formalities but much will depend on whether we are able to find you work. For example, before you can start in a booking with us, we will need confirmation of your identity and eligibility to work in the UK as well as details of referees and/or your record of achievement.
Waiting for your first booking
We will naturally try to find you appropriate work as soon as possible. However, as temping is very reliant on market conditions as well as the variable needs of our client companies, sometimes it is difficult to predict exactly when this will be. If we aren’t able to offer you work straight away, please maintain contact and let us know of any changes in your circumstances, i.e. holidays, other work received etc. Keeping us up-to-date is critical.
Accepting your first booking
As suitable work becomes available, we will contact you to discuss the assignment. We will give you a background brief on the client - information such as the nature of their business, the nature of the work you will be doing and their expectations of you as a temporary employee. We will also confirm the rate of pay, hours of work and the duration for that particular assignment. If you have any worries about accepting the booking offered, please do not hesitate to discuss these with us. You are important to us and we are concerned that our temporary team are confident and happy with their work.
Future temporary work
Once you return to University or College we will maintain your file in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Which means re-registering couldn't be easier; all we will need from you is an email or telephone call with your next availability dates and possibly an updated CV.
If you need to speak to anyone at CJR, you can contact us at any time - by phone on 020 8680 5777 or by email.
We are here to help!
