Tomorrow the world was never our agenda. We believed ‘small is beautiful’ (and controllable). CJR is made up of a highly accomplished and loyal team. Uniquely, we have no individual targets or commission – we see this as divisive and not in customers’ best interest. 1979 to now has been a rollercoaster of constant change but CJR’s integrity and reliability still remain core. Recruitment is a dynamic and highly competitive sector and we are proud to have gained a reputation as ‘an agency of choice’. However, a business is only as good as the people it employs. Ultimately, it is CJR staff that preserve our reputation. I am proud of ‘Team CJR’ and testimonials still show that whilst so much changes, our team remain consistent, balancing professionalism with friendliness - and this is why so many people recommend us to others time and time again.

"People before profit" - How it all began...

Catherine Johnstone founded CJR in 1979 in partnership with Veronica Davies.  With 12 years experience in recruitment, they knew what candidates and employers wanted, and importantly, what they didn’t want.  As such, CJR would be an agency that would place people firmly before profit. Many saw this as naïve but CJR’s reputation grew rapidly and 3 decades on, we are a highly successful independent with a string of national and local awards for excellence endorsing our unique way of working.

Catherine no longer works on operational aspects of CJR leaving this to her senior management team.  However, she says, “My passion for business and recruitment remains and I do miss working at the coalface – however, I know how fortunate I have been to work with a consistently great team over so many exciting years. CJR continues to do what they do best - change people’s lives for the better by offering an exceptional no time-wasting service.”

In 2009 we celebrated 30 years in business and we have a highly successful team of professional consultants who are experienced in all areas of commercial office recruitment from entry level through to Executive appointments. What do we do?

We cater for private and public sector businesses placing people in Permanent, Temporary, Interim and Fixed Term Contract positions with a geographical focus on Croydon, London and the South East.

Catherine Johnstone Recruitment are also a member of the REC. The REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) is the representative body for the UK's private recruitment and staffing industry with more than 8,000 coporate members, all of which must abide by the REC Code of Professional Practice.
