CJR & the Environment...
Rosie Jeffreys (our "Environmental Champion")
At CJR we are delighted that our environmental initiatives have resulted in us being awarded firstly the Bronze Envibe award in 2006 and, in 2010, the Silver Envibe
award.
We aim to ensure that CJR and the activities we undertake have an overall positive impact on the environment and our community and when considering this, we take the following factors into account:
Impact on our Physical Environment
• We have a policy of recycling and / or safe disposal of office stationery, supplies and equipment including paper, packaging,
light bulbs, printer cartridges, computers and other devices
• We aim to minimise paper waste in a variety of ways including double-side printing and re-use of waste paper for internal documents and forms
• We constantly reassess our usage of paper and aim to cut consumption year on year
• We work with our building managers to achieve fuel-saving economies in the common parts of our building and we apply similar principles to our own use of electricity and water
• We take care to ensure that cleaning and other similar materials are biodegradable where possible
Impact on our Community Environment
• All staff participate in our formal Community Service Programme, which we consider has a positive impact on the schools, charities, organisations and people with whom we work - indeed, we have won awards to this effect.
We comply with all requirements of environmental legislation or codes of practice which affect an organisation of our size and industry. We encourage staff to use public transport by providing season ticket loans; similarly, we encourage temps by ensuring that directions given for all assignments include the best public transport options for that location.
Catherine Johnstone Recruitment Limited has made a commitment to continuous improvement and will monitor progress regularly, reviewing the effects of all aspects of our business at least annually. In addition, we seek to raise awareness, encourage participation and train all employees in environmental issues including waste reduction. One member of staff is appointed to liaise with our local authority on recycling waste and reduction and we are all active in promoting environmental awareness externally.
